Faun is one of my favourite pagan folk bands, famous for its beautiful mysterious style mixed by medieval, Celtic,Nordic folk and modern music.
From the ancient Roman mythology, Faun represents the rustic forest god, half human – half goat (similar to the Greek god, Pan) with the great music talent, also known as a symbol of dissipation, chasing beautiful women for pleasure, which could be found in many mythological artworks.
Depicted as a natural forest spirit, Faun, this German band combines ancient Perso-Arab melodies with the Swedish nyckelharpa and Middle High German lyrics,from melancholic ballads to exuberant dances. The organizer & manager, Oliver s. Tyr himself is Master of Arts in medieval literature and poet, good at playing Celtic harp, Irish Bouzouki, Swedish Nyckelharpa, guitar, Mandora and Contrabasharpa. Since 2002, Faun has been through 15 years while its members keep changing, too. In Federkleid, the official music video of 2016, Oliver looks more mature with his beard and stylish hair arrangement, quite charming, I would say…
